4th February NWHL Roundup – Kessel v Steadman

This was the final week of games before the all-star game hits Pittsburgh. With the announcement of a shorter season to give the players a chance to play for their respective countries in the IIHF World Cup, points in the standings are becoming a rare commodity. For New York and Buffalo as they continue their tightly contested battle for 2nd place, every point counts.

27th-29th NWHL Roundup – Goals Galore

It was a busy weekend for the Whale and Rivs as they both had two games in three days. With Boston well out in front, the battle for second place is still tightly contested, with any three of the remaining teams in with shot of claiming home ice. This weekend certainly didn’t disappoint- 32 goals were scored in total across just three games. This will be one weekend for the goalies to forget.

14/15th January NWHL Roundup – Goalies Win Games

Following the announcement of the All-Star rosters, the players had to turn their attention back to the business of hockey. It was one for the goalies this week as both Boston and New York recorded shutouts. Boston cemented their number one spot at the table, while the Whale slid to the bottom of the pile following their third straight loss.

7th January NWHL Roundup – Beauts Prevail

After the Christmas break, the NWHL returned with a flurry of goals- and a flurry of snow. The Buffalo Beauts leapfrogged Connecticut in the standings to claim 2nd place behind Boston in a 10 goal game. Meanwhile, the Riveters and Pride will to have to wait to face off against each other as their game was postponed due to poor weather conditions. Here is my summary of the night.

Whale Floundering On The Power Play

This time last year, the Connecticut Whale had just suffered their first ever loss. Their 2-1 defeat to Boston made their record at the midpoint of the season 8-1-0. A year later and they are currently sitting on a very mediocre 4-5-0, considering their previous achievements. So what’s going wrong for the Whale this time round?
